Time – Space – Existence

The Global Art Affairs Foundation is pleased to announce the participation of Cuban-born artist Leonor Anthony in the 57th International Art Exhibition, Venice Biennale of 2017 for our Contemporary Art Exhibition titled Personal Structures held in Palazzo Bembo and Palazzo Mora, which runs from May 13 until November 26, 2017.

Born in La Habana, Cuba, Leonor Anthony immigrated with her family to the United States as a very young child. The feeling of impermanence and non-identity, at home everywhere but not fully belonging anywhere became her way of life. Her dichotomy of melancholy and ease, radical yet classical, underlies all her creations.

She is currently preparing to mount a project based on social activism named Color: A World View to bring light to what has been kept in the dark for far too long now: humanity. The project focuses on issues of freedom and human integrations through imagery that speaks to the world’s countries obligation to be examples of tolerance in a world in which respect seems often lost.

Leonor Anthony’s ongoing work has aimed to encourage viewers to pause and reflect on what lays beyond their own perspective. All her work carries a message – social justice, spirituality, intellect; a passionate need to express inarticulate feelings. Her views concerning human rights, the environment, education and the welfare and empowerment of women throughout the world are the framework of her creations, regardless of medium. Her work turning towards minimalism and the time travel continuum highlight the magnitude and prevalence of social issues throughout history.

Leonor’s work has previously been shown at Aqua Art Miami 2016, Contemporaries at Uffizi 2016, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Valencia 2016, New York Art Expo 2016, Le Carrousel du Louvre 2015 and 2014, Musée du Louvre Paris 2015, Expo Milano 2015, Museo Bramante Rome 2015, Biennale of Palermo 2015, Paris Biennale 2014, Frost Art Museum Lawn 2014, Seoul Open Art Fair 2014 and 2013, Beijing International Art Exposition 2013 and 2012.
